Reading the scripture telling of the birth of Jesus Christ and the circumstances that surround the blessed event has always been a spiritually uplifting moment of the evening for me. The language is beautiful and the simplicity of it all is awe inspiring. However, this past week, some very seemingly mundane items have become a wonder as I discussed this chapter with my Husband.
The manger itself being one and the star the other. The manger is a lowly animal pen, that probably didn't smell great and was less than comfortable. But it would have been warm for the animals, and more quiet than the inn would have been. It was private and out of the way, the greatest miracle on Earth happened in the most out of the way of the places. I am sure that both Mary and Joseph were actually grateful for the quiet. The star is quite the science marvel, for that star to be prepared to shine anew in the sky with that kind of intensity, meant that it was ready before the world was; that Heavenly Father had that star set in the sky to ready to announce His son's birth before there was an Earth for Him to be born on. What a testimony of the love of our Father.
